A Little about the Olympic Games
The Olympic Games began over 2,700 years ago in Olympia, in southwest Greece. The Games were part of a religious festival. The Greek Olympics were begun in 776 BC, which was inspired as the modern Olympic Games (begun in 1896). The Games were held in honor of Zeus, king of the gods, and were staged every four years at Olympia, a valley near a city called Elis. People from all over the Greek world came to watch and take part in it.
2012 London Olympic Games
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games is going to be taken place in London, England, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
