George Clooney born as George Timothy Clooney on May 6, 1961. He is an American actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter, and he received three Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award.

He gained fame and recognition by portraying Dr. Douglas "Doug" Ross on the long-running medical drama ER from 1994 to 1999. He left the show in 1999 and moved on to an even more successful career in films, as an actor, producer and sometime director.

He started attracting a variety of leading roles in films including Batman & Robin and Out of Sight, in which he first teamed with long-term collaborator Steven Soderbergh.

Clooney's fame widened with the release of his biggest commercial success through Ocean's Eleven as Danny Ocean. He made his directorial debut with the Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Good Nigt, Good Luck, Leatherheads, and The Ides of March. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for for his role as a CIA agent in the political thriller Syriana, and subsequently fetched Best Actor nominations for such films as Michael Clayton, Up in the Air and The Descendants. He also directed and starred in the football comedy Leatherheads.

As a good human, His humanitarian work includes his advocacy of finding a resolution for the Darfur conflict, raising funds for the 2010 Haiti earthquake, 2004 Tsunami, and 9/11 victims, and creating documentaries such as Sand and Sorrow to raise awareness about international crises. Clooney has served as one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace since January 2008.

George Clooney has twice been named the "sexiest man alive" by People magazine: in 1997 and in 2006. Clooney's marital status and availability is a running joke for female fans who still fantasize they have a chance to bring him to the altar. Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Las Vegas has a "Marrying George Clooney" photo-op in which museum visitors can put on a wedding gown and stand next to a wax statue of the smiling actor in a tuxedo.
